The European Days of Research and Innovation in Ivano-Frankivsk became an important platform for the exchange of experience and the development of sustainable technologies in Ukraine.
On September 24-29, 2024, members of the Ukrainian Hemp Building Association joined the Ukrainian-German project Hope.Home.Nadiya. Within the framework of which an exhibition of ecological building materials was presented at the House of Architect.
Holding a collaborative workshop on hemp construction, we convinced not only Ukrainian students but also German colleagues that the possibilities of hemp as an environmentally friendly material for construction, design, and other household applications are endless. The clay building workshop once again confirmed that the past not only crosses over into the present, but also shapes our future.
After all, the use of eco-materials such as hemp, clay, and reeds is traditional for Ukrainian architecture and construction, and the return to authentic practices and their reinterpretation is part of the national consciousness today.
*This project is funded by the Advisory Assistance Program (AAP) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, which supports environmental initiatives in Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Official supervision is provided by the German Environment Agency (UBA).
